“Dead-Broke Dads and Their Challenges to Parenting” Symposium in Rockford

Rockford, IL – (October 30, 2008) - The Illinois Council on Responsible Fatherhood, (ICRF), will hold a symposium in Rockford on Saturday, November 15, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.  It will be held at the Zeke Giorgi Center in the auditorium at 200 S. Wyman St. This event is open to the public and free of charge.

Through this symposium the ICRF hopes to build a network of groups who are committed to generating public awareness of fatherhood issues. Other goals of the symposium are pinpointing challenges that hinder father involvement, creating solutions to those challenges and exploring positive legislative reform.

Representatives from local churches, social service organizations, and the Department of Human Services will be among those attending.

Speakers will include Council member Dianna Durham-McLoud and Chair of the Council, Chicago fathers’ rights attorney Jeffery Leving.

The Illinois Council on Responsible Fatherhood’s mission is to significantly increase the number of children in Illinois that grow up with a responsible father in their lives.
